The unique high altitude and high latitude Ballandean vineyards cause winter to come early and quickly. This distinctive wine is the result of our Nebbiolo grapes being picked I the middle of winter, two months after the first frost of the season. During the cold and frosty winter, the grapes hang on the naked vines slowly turning to raisins. Once harvested the grapes are cool fermented and aged in new American oak barriques for 18 months. The result being a robust wine with a strong tannin backbone. Only 900 bottles were produced.
