This tasty dish of succulent & juicy Aussie prawns makes a quick take-away style meal you can prepare at home. The dish is quite spicy but you can adjust the chilli level to suit your taste.
Ingredients
- 1kg fresh Aussie green prawns, peeled & deveined
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil
- 3 tablespoons Lirah Caramelised Tastes of Asia Balsamic
- 4 cloves garlic, crushed
- 3 teaspoons fresh ginger, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon crushed chilli
- 3/4 cup water
- 2-4 tablespoons of hot sauce (depending on the heat you like)
- 4 teaspoons soy sauce
- 3 – 4 tablespoons brown sugar (depending on how sweet you like it).
- Toasted sesame seeds & sliced shallots, to garnish
Method
- Heat oil in a wok, or large frypan, over high heat. Cook prawns, in 2 batches, until golden, approx. 1 minute. Set aside.
- Reduce heat to medium (allowing a little time to cool) and heat sesame oil. Add garlic, ginger and crushed chilli and fry until golden and fragrant.
- Add water, Lirah Caramelised Tastes of Asia Balsamic, hot sauce, soy sauce and sugar. Stir over medium to high heat and simmer until the sauce thickens, approx. 3-4 minutes.
- Return prawns to the pan and stir to coat. Heat for a further 2 minutes until sauce has reduced further and prawns are cooked through.
- Serve immediately over cooked rice garnished with toasted sesame seeds and shallots.
