This tasty dish of succulent & juicy Aussie prawns makes a quick take-away style meal you can prepare at home. The dish is quite spicy but you can adjust the chilli level to suit your taste.

  • 1kg fresh Aussie green prawns, peeled & deveined
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 3 tablespoons Lirah Caramelised Tastes of Asia Balsamic
  • 4 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 3 teaspoons fresh ginger, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon crushed chilli
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 2-4 tablespoons of hot sauce (depending on the heat you like)
  • 4 teaspoons soy sauce
  • 3 – 4 tablespoons brown sugar (depending on how sweet you like it).
  • Toasted sesame seeds & sliced shallots, to garnish

  1. Heat oil in a wok, or large frypan, over high heat. Cook prawns, in 2 batches, until golden, approx. 1 minute. Set aside.
  2. Reduce heat to medium (allowing a little time to cool) and heat sesame oil. Add garlic, ginger and crushed chilli and fry until golden and fragrant.
  3. Add water, Lirah Caramelised Tastes of Asia Balsamic, hot sauce, soy sauce and sugar. Stir over medium to high heat and simmer until the sauce thickens, approx. 3-4 minutes.
  4. Return prawns to the pan and stir to coat. Heat for a further 2 minutes until sauce has reduced further and prawns are cooked through.
  5. Serve immediately over cooked rice garnished with toasted sesame seeds and shallots.
